CA meets King Charles III, discusses Bangladesh's Reforms

Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus today (June 12) met with King Charles III, where they discussed the reform agendas in Bangladesh.

CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the development at a press briefing.

He said, “Chief Adviser met King Charles III at 11:20 am today, and it was a one-to-one private meeting.”

Shafiqul said during the discussion, they talked about the significant changes underway in Bangladesh.

At this time Prof Yunus briefed the King about the reform steps being carried out by his government, he said.

Describing the 30-minute meeting as warm and friendly, the press secretary noted that since King Charles has known Prof Yunus for a long time, they spoke on a variety of topics.

“I would say this was the most important event of the entire visit,” he added.

Following the meeting, Prof Yunus was presented with a special gift—a photograph of the King and the Queen, signed by both—which was described as a great honour for the Chief Adviser.

King Charles welcomed Prof Yunus to Buckingham Palace for the private audience.

Alongside formal diplomatic and political audiences, the Monarch also meets individuals who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields—especially when they are taking up a Royal role or receiving an award associated with the Royal Family.

By granting private audiences, The King acknowledges the value of individuals and their achievements, providing an opportunity to learn more about their work while offering a memorable Royal experience.

An “audience” refers to a personal meeting with The King.
