Bangladesh will advance, says PM

DHAKA: Bangladesh set records again and again and would move forward in the days to come, said Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday morning.

The premier was addressing the inauguration of the historic “Lakho Kanthe Sonar Bangla” event at the National Parade Ground in city’s Tejgaon area where a world record was set by singing the national anthem with 2,54,681 voices together.

She said “Bangladesh will go forward and hold the place in the world’s stage.”

During her inaugural speech, the PM thanked the participants including students, freedom fighters, Border Gourd Bangladesh personnel, police forces, Rapid Action Battalion, Ansar, and VDP, workers and professionals and greeted them on the occasion of Independence and National Day.

According to organizers, apart from 2,54,681 people, counted by machine, around 60,000 people also sang the national anthem together outside the venue.

It is only a matter of time now to get the official recognition from Guinness World Records.

According to GWR, the greatest number of people to sing the same National or regional anthem at the same time was 121,653, and was achieved by Sahara India Pariwar (India), in Lucknow, India, on 6 May 2013.
