TANGAIL: Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui beat up an engineer of the Power Development Board at Kalihati upazila of the district Friday night.

The victim, Punay Chandra, is a deputy assistant engineer of sales and distribution (S&D) department of PDB at the upazila sustained severe injuries in the head.

Upazila S&D department executive engineer Nure Alam and Tangail S&D (2) executive engineer Haydar Ali Fakir told banglanews “The minster called Punay along with them to his residence at 8:30pm Friday.”

“Seeing Punay had stood on holding hands in the pant’s pockets there, the minster rebuked him. At one stage of argument, the minster hit on Punay’s head by a stick, felling him on the floor.”

Punay was admitted to the upazila health complex.

Regarding the matter, when banglanews tried to contact to the minster and his personal assistant over phone separately, the calls were not received.
