SATKHIRA: One person was killed and 50 others were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside pond on Satkhira-Kaliganj road in Kaliganj upazila Friday morning.

Kaliganj police station officer- in-charge Fariduddin said the Satkhira-bound bus fell into the pond at about 10am as the driver lost his control over steering, killing a pedestrian on the spot and injuring 50 bus passengers.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Ali, 45, son of Ishak Sahaji of village Bharashimla in Kaliganj.

The injured were admitted to Kaliganj Health Complex and Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
