DHAKA: Police on Friday afternoon foiled a protest rally of Gano Jagoran Moncho at Shahbagh and nabbed 6 activists.

More than 5 others injured in the action and one of them was sent to Dhaka Medical.

The detainees were identified as Sohag, Dhiman, Joy, Titu and Badhan. The identity of the other one could not be known immediately.

Earlier on Thursday, Chhatra League activists attacked on Gano Jagoran Moncho activists, leaving some of them injured.

Protesting the attack Gano Jagoran Moncho activists gathered together at city’s Shahbagh area to hold a protest rally on Friday afternoon. However, police rushed to the place and tried to disperse them.

Some Gano Jagoran Moncho activists were inured while police chased them to disperse. However police nabbed six activists of the organization in this incident.

The spokesperson of the organization Imran H Sarkar alleged that police tried to nab him as well.

He further said that the law enforcers are interrupting on our basic right of demonstration.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Thana Sirajul Islam said that there was no permission so they were obstructed to hold protest rallies in the area.
