TANGAIL: A housewife was allegedly beaten to death by her in-law’s family in Kharajhura village under Kalihati of the district Friday early. Police detained two men for their involvement into the killing.

The deceased was identified as Ameena, 22, wife of immigrant Ainuddin of Kharajhura village of the upazila.

The detainees are the victim’s brothers-in-law – Tukku Mia and Rafiqul Islam, sons of son of Idris Ali of the village.

Kalihati Thana Sub-Inspector Khokan Chandra Sarker confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said, “Members of Ameena’s in-law family beat her on the night, leaving seriously injured; she was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where doctor pronounced her dead.”

Doctors caught Tukku at the Complex and while trying to escape and later handed over him to police.

Getting information from the detainee, police nabbed Tukku’s brother Rafiqul Islam.

The body was sent to the district Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed in this connection, added the SI.
