DHAKA: The leaders of journalists demanded an exemplary punishment to intern doctors of Mitford Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for their alleged involvement in beating journalists and vandalizing cameras.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Altaf Mahmud and General Secretary Kuddus Afrad made the plea in a statement on Monday.
The journalists’ leaders also condemned and expressed their deep concern over journalists’ assault incidents in public hospitals.
They also urged to penalize the attackers shortly and claimed compensation for the victims.
The organizations criticized the attacks of the intern doctors to the journalists rather performing their duties properly.
Earlier, cameraperson of Jamuna TV Rassel Mahmud and journalists of Ekushey TV were beaten up mercilessly by the intern doctors while they were covering news.
Moreover, the intern doctors were alleged for negligence in their duty and misbehaving with the patients and their relatives.
