FROM KOLKATA: Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen said he does not think Narendra Modi is a good prime ministerial candidate in ongoing parliament elections.
Sen came up with the observation to journalists at Santiniketan after casting vote on Wednesday.
He said, “My reaction on Modi is fairly well known. I don't think he is a good prime ministerial candidate. He is very popular among the business community. That doesn't mean he is my favourite candidate."
"So I would like someone who is more secular and minority communities like Christians and Muslims don't feel threatened by him. That has to be one characteristic of the leader of the nation," he added.
He also told that if Modi become the prime minister of India there will be no welfare and anarchy will be increased in the country.
