Bangladesh Bank (BB) is planning to form a special fund worth Tk 800-900 crore to support new entrepreneurs, especially start-up companies, said Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur on Monday (April 7).
He made the remarks while speaking at the Start-up Connect session of the four-day Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) at a hotel in the capital.
The Governor said Bangladesh is not only a place for trade but also a suitable destination for investment. Although 95 percent of start-ups usually fail, the government is committed to supporting them so they can succeed in the long run.
He said that the fund will be used only for providing capital support to new entrepreneurs and will be disbursed through commercial banks.
The session was also attended by BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, ICT Secretary Shish Hayder Chowdhury, and both local and foreign investors.
