A Dhaka court has ordered the authorities to confiscate a Gulshan flat owned by Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with a corruption case where she is named as a charge-sheeted accused.
The court also permitted the appointment of a receiver to manage the property during the legal proceedings.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Tuesday (April 29) following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam confirming the matter, said the order was issued based on a request made by ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam.
According to the petition, Saima Wazed was allegedly trying to transfer or dispose of the immovable property, which could hinder the ongoing investigation. The ACC argued that any transfer of the asset before the case is resolved might affect the inquiry.
To prevent any possible transfer or loss of ownership, the ACC sought an order to freeze the flat and appoint a receiver to safeguard the property until the investigation concludes.
After reviewing the petition, the court granted the ACC’s request and issued the seizure and receiver orders.
