BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Border Guard Bangladesh detained 33 people from Putkhali border of Benapole as they were crossing the border illegally amid the red alert.
Government issued a red alert at the border and all immigration cheek posts in a bid to nab the listed criminals and the accused people in the Nararanganj seven-murder.
The detainees claimed that they were going to India for traveling and business purposes, crossing border illegally as they did not get passport and visa. Some of them were coming back from India.
Benalope port thana Officer-In-Charge Apurba Hasan said, 10 out of 33 detainees were produced before the Jessore court on Wednesday noon and remaining 23 will be taken to the court on Thursday noon.
On Thursday morning, BGB-23 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Mostafizur Rahman told banglanews, “Large numbers of people try to cross Benapole border, highest security measures have been taken in the border; consequently, the detention had been possible.”
