DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will start conducting drive against the vehicles with black glass across the city from Sunday.
Traffic police sergeants have been given necessary instruction in this regard, said DMP deputy commissioner Masudur Rahman while talking to journalists at DMP Media Center on Mintoo Road in the city on Saturday.
He said, “Microbus that has black glass will be seized at sight and necessary measures will be taken for violating the rules.”
“Meanwhile, transparent glass has been set on the microbuses of DMP,” he added.
Masudur also said, “People who have not set the transparent glass on their cars will have to do it within May 10 (Saturday), otherwise they will have to pay fines.”
DMP deputy commissioner (traffic south) Khan M Rezwan told banglanews: “We will conduct the drives in accordance of the government’s instructions.”
He added: “Traffic sergeants at the field level have been given instructions on the matter.”
In the awake of recent abduction spree across the country, Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification on May 6 banning use of unclear, black, coloured, and non-transparent glasses in all kinds of light vehicles including microbus, private car and pick-up van from May 10.
