Raid on against colorful glass

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Sunday started drives across the capital against the vehicles with colorful glasses.

Traffic police sergeants were instructed by Home Affairs Ministry to conduct such drives.

The police sergeants were seen busy in detecting the vehicles under that category and awarding them with a healthy penalty in Maghbazar, Rampura, Shahbagh, Paltan, Farmgate and other areas of the city.

On duty traffic police sergeant of Rampura zone Enamul Haque said that three cases had been filed already in this connection.

He said, “Vehicles that has black glass will be seized at sight and necessary measures will be taken for violating the rules.”

In the awake of recent abduction spree across the country, Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification on May 6 banning use of unclear, black, colored, and non-transparent glasses in all kinds of light vehicles including microbus, private car and pick-up van from May 10.

The traffic police sergeants were seen active on city roads to abide the given instructions from the ministry.
