DMCH emergency service resumed

DHAKA: Services at emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital resumed on Sunday morning after a several hours halt.

Government doctors joined the workplace though the intern remained off-duty.

Emergency unit resident sergeant Dr. Riaz Morshed told banglanews, “We have resumed the service at the emergency unit, government doctors has begun working though the interns have not joined the work yet.”

Emergency unit ticket counter In-Charge Abdul Baten said, “We have started selling the tickets.”

Unit medical officer Dr. Amzad told banglanews, “Patients are coming to my room taking tickets, they are being sent to the respective wards according to the types of their disease and emergency patients are being kept at the unit.”

Services at the unit remains normal, said Abdul Khaleque, Ansar platoon commander at DMCH.

Services at the hospital emergency unit remained halted from Saturday night as interns started protest following at assault on six of them at Chankharpul.
