DHAKA: Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Greg Wilcock Thursday urged the State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to bring back 900 unidentified Bangladeshi people who are residing at Australian shelter centre.
According to information from the country, around 50,000 citizens of Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh go to Australia every year. Among them, from 1 percent to 1.5 percent people are from Bangladesh.
Sources said, Rohingyas are also there among the Bangladeshi people.
In response to a quest, a high up of Home Ministry said government would start proceedings to bring them back after collecting their identities and citizenship.
Government won’t bring any Rohingya, he added.
