HOBIGANJ: Three people including mother and son drowned in Kodalia River in Azmiriganj upazila of the district on Friday evening.

The deceased were identified as Maksuda, 40 and her son Ershad, 23 and maternal aunty of Maksuda Jobeda 70, hailed from Jalshukha area of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Azmiriganj Thana Taimur Bakht Chowdhury told banglanews the three people took shelter in an anchored boat when storm hit the area.

In a stage of storm, the boat was released and capsized in Kodalia River, he added.

Later, local people recovered their bodies, he added.

He also said police recovered the bodies and handed over to the relatives.
