FROM IGC, GULSHAN : The flags of Bangladesh and India are likely to be flown atop of the North American highest mountain peak Mount McKinley locally known as Mount Denali.

To hoist country’s flag, first Bangladeshi Mount Everest climber Musa Ibrahim and Indian mountain climber Satyarup Siddhanta are going on ‘First Bangladesh -India Friendship Expedition to Mt Denali’ soon.

Musa made the disclosure when delivering a lecture titled ‘Leadership Lessons in the face of Challenge and Adversity” at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Gulshan area of the city on Thursday night.

Indian High Commission in Dhaka organized the function. Satyarup attended there on Skype.

Before talking about the expedition, Musa gave details of his Mount Everest conquering expedition.

“Everybody has an Everest in his/her life, we overcome it though hard industry and diligence; no gain in life is easy, everyone is to gain it through hard words, Musa said.

He briefed the audience shortly on the joint mountain climbing expedition.

Addressing the audience through Skype video, Satyarup said, “We want to raise hopes in search of new horizon, we want to think, outside of politics, that we are Bangalee.”

“We want to go ahead with new initiative as no politics keeps the two Banglas tied,” added Satyarup.

Political and Information Counselor of the Indian High Commission Sujit Ghosh delivered the welcome address.

May 29 also coincides with the International Day of US Peacekeepers New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Tenzing Norgay had reached the top of Mount Everest on that day of 1953.
