DHAKA: Pierre Mayaudon has been appointed as Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Bangladesh.
Mayaudon will replace EU Head of Delegation William Hanna.
He is now serving as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Pakistan.
Mayaudon has an extensive diplomatic and defense background in the French administration, including as Deputy Director within the Ministry of Defense, and diplomatic postings in Singapore and as Ambassador to Vanuatu.
Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, on Thursday announced the appointment of new Heads of EU Delegations to Bangladesh, Guinea and Malawi.
"I am delighted to announce the appointment of these excellent candidates to Head of Delegation posts in the EEAS. Their talent and expertise are significant assets for the EU's external action and I look forward to working with them in their new roles," Ashton said while announcing the new appointments.
