COMILLA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader categorically said that illegal transports would not be allowed to ply on the highway for the sake of public safety.

He made the remarks while inspecting a four-lane project work in Paduabazar area of the district at 11:00 am Friday.

Obaidul Quader said, “I requested the Commerce Ministry to stop importing the parts of Easy bike, Nasimon, Karimon and other local vehicles which had no legal permission. The factories of these vehicles would also be stopped soon.”

The four-lane project on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway would be completed within December as the works of the bridge almost done. The works of Comilla and Feni overpass would also be finished till May or June next, he added.

Comilla District Commissioner Md Tofazzal Hossain Miah, Additional Engineer of Four-lane project Aftab Hossaon Khan, Manager Engineer Masum Sarowar Khan among others were present there.
