‘Ambitious budget is good for country’

DHAKA: The Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that highly ambitious budget is good if we can implement it properly.

He made the remark in a post-budget press briefing at city’s Osmani Auditorium on Friday afternoon.

Muhith also said, “The ability of spending money of the mass has jumped to twice in the last five years. This is the main objective of the government.” 

He also said that the opportunity of local government has increased from 2009-10 fiscal year.

 He also highlighted that the foreign aid has reached to the satisfactory level. The budget shortage is only five percent.

AL lawmaker also said education sector has got more than any other sectors in the budget of 2014-15FY. 

We had a revenue income in the last few years which was 95 percent of the target, he added.

Muhith also said the tax free income facilities in our country is much more than any other countries of the world.

We only can appeal to the politicians to avoid political violence which is an ill culture, he added.

On Thursday, Muhith placed the budget of Tk 250,506 crore outlays before the parliament for the fiscal year 2014-15.

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Governor of Bangladesh Bank Atiur Rahman among others were present the programme.
