High security measures taken for Durja Puja: DMP boss

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Mainul Hasan on Wednesday (Sep 25) said tight security measures have been taken keeping Durga Puja ahead.

He also said like every year, the police will conduct their duties with utmost attention to ensure that Puja is celebrated peacefully in all mandaps throughout the Dhaka metropolitan areas.

He said while talking in a meeting on security, law and order and traffic management on the occasion of autumnal Durga Puja in the conference room of DMP headquarters on Wednesday (September 25) morning.

“During Puja, with police officers in uniform and plain clothes, SWAT, Crisis Response Team, Quick Response Team, Crime Scene Van, and Bomb Disposal Unit, will be on standby at all times,” he said.

“At this time DMP chief calling upon the leaders of the Pooja Celebration Council, said that CCTV should be kept active in the Puja Mandapams during the Puja. Each mandap will have round-the-clock security by law enforcement personnel as well as its own volunteers,” he said.

DMP Commissioner requested to contact the National Emergency Service 999 or the nearest police station in case of emergency. 

Mainul Hasan also expressed his hope that with the collective efforts of all, the upcoming Durga Puja will be celebrated safely and smoothly in a festive and joyous atmosphere.
