DHAKA: Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud on Sunday said India was formally invited for a meeting of the Joint River Commission.
A meeting in this regard would be held and the Teesta deal would be signed soon, he said.
The Jatiya Party lawmaker came up with his hopes while talking to journalists at his secretariat office after renewing a five-year memorandum of understating related to flood information of Brahmaputra River with China at the state guesthouse Meghna in the noon.
He said, “Bangladesh sent letter to India to hold meeting of the joint river commission and Indian Water Resources Minister Uma Bharoti has been invited.”
“The meeting would be held soon, and the Teesta water sharing deal would also be signed too,” he added.
