BD to give CBMP proposal to Myanmar

DHAKA: Bangladesh is likely to give an agreement proposal to neighbour Myanmar about Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) to reduce dispute and tension in the border line of the two countries.  

Bangladesh will raise the issue in a director general level meeting of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar is scheduled to be started from Tuesday. 

If Myanmar shows interest and give response about the CBMP then Bangladesh will give a draft proposal on it.     

A competent source of the foreign ministry made the disclosure to banglanews. 

Five-day long director general level meeting of BGB and BGP will start from June 10 in Myanmar.    

BGB director general Major Gen Aziz Ahmed and BGP director general Major General Zaw Win will lead the delegation on behalf of the respective country.  

Other issues of the conference are to stopping of the smuggling drugs, stopping of firing among the border forces, introduce joint patrolling system and also increase confidence among the forces of both the countries. 

On May 28, BGB member Nayek Md Mizanur Rahman, hailed from Velanagar village under Mohanpur union of Comilla was killed by the Myanmar border police at Naikkhangchari frontier of Bandarban district.

Since then, tension mounting among the BGB and BGP in the border area.
