N’ganj fire guts over 50 shops, factories

NARAYANGANJ: More than 50 shops and factories were gutted in a devastating fire which broke out at Deobhog market of the metropolitan early Wednesday.

Sources said that the fire broke out at the tin-shed market around 4:00am and on information, six fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after five hours frantic effort.

At least five people were injured at that time, they added.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Narayanganj Fire Services and Civil Defenses deputy assistant director Mamtaz Hossain told banglanews that as it was a market of readymade garments, the fire easily spread there from shop to shops.

Huge readymade clothes were stored in the shops for Eid sale.

The origination of the fire could not be known immediately.

He said, “But the extent of loss is yet to estimate but it would go up several crores taka”.
