2 killed as bus plunge into river

TANGAIL: Two people were killed and 28 others injured as a bus plunged into Pungli river breaking the railing of a bridge on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Elenga area of Kalihati upazila Tuesday.

The victims’ identity could not be known immediately.

Traffic Police Sergeant Jaman said to banglanews that the Dhaka-bound bus coming from Dhaka fell into the river as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 30 people injured.

The injured were whished to the Tangail Medical College Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries.

Among the 28 injured, eight people’s condition is critical.

He said Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology minister Abdul Latif Siddique was present in the spot.
