Ship capsizes in Ctg, 11 crews rescued

CHITTAGONG: MV Sundarban-1, a Lighterage ship, loaded with steel coil, has been sunk in Patenga Harinagar of the port city on Friday.

Sources said that thought it sunk with 1500 tons of steel coils but the coast guard rescued all the 11 crews from the ship immediately.

Witnesses told banglanews that the incident took place around 8:00am.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Conservator of Chittagong Port Nazmul Alam said that ‘MV Sundarban-1’ was carrying steel coils to Dhaka.

However, the reason for the accident could not be immediately clear, he added.

He said, but due to the capsize, regular movement of ships are not facing any disruption.
