Ramadan to begin in Saudi Arabia Sunday

DHAKA: The Saudi Supreme Court has confirmed that the holy month of Ramadan moon was not sighted Friday so Saturday is the last day of Shaabaan and Ramadan will begin on Sunday.

The UAE Ramadan Moon Sighting Committee has also announced that the Holy Month of Ramadan in UAE for the Hijri year 1435 will begin on Sunday.

Dr Hadef bin Jowan Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Moon Sighting Committee of UAE, in a statement following the committee's meeting at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said that after investigation, application of relevant Sharia laws, and contacts with neighbouring countries, tomorrow Saturday, June 28, 2014 will be the last day of the Hijri month of Sha'ban of 1435 H, and therefore, Sunday, June 29, 2014 will be the first day of Ramadan.

Al Dhaheri also congratulated UAE people and all Muslims around the world on the occasion.
