SAVAR, DHAKA: The workers of four readymade garment factories staged protest procession demanding their due salaries.

Sources said that workers of Surma Garments of Savar Textile Group in Aicha Noadda area went on work abstention over due salaries and Eid festival bonus.

The workers complained that giving 15-day salary of July month the factory owners declared the factory closed.

Later, agitated workers took position on Savar Birulia road.

Meanwhile, police fired tear shells and rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving 20 workers injured.

On the other hand, workers of two garment factories in Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) staged sit in program.

Besides, workers of another garment factory staged protest procession in Ashulia Ziarani Bazaar area.

Confirming the matter Ashulia Industrial Police-1 Director Mostafizur Rahman told banglanews, “Additional police forces were deployed to avoid any untoward situations”.
