Ensure jam-free Dhk-Ctg highway

COMILLA: Communications minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that the government will ensure a jam-free Dhaka-Chittagong highway this Eid.

He came up with this disclosure his visit to investigate the problems regarding 4-lane construction work on the highway at Chandina Bus Stand area in the morning.

At that time, the minister also urged to ensure a hassle-free journey of homebound people during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

He also asked to stop all sorts of extortion, overloading and occupation of footpath and to continue side by side the repairing of all damaged roads, bridges and culverts and removing wastes from the roads and highways.

The minister informed journalists at Daudkandi Toll Plaza that no heavy cargoes except those carrying garments, fuel and perishables goods will be allowed to ply across the roads from three days before to two days after the Eid.

He ordered the local administration to form inspection teams to monitor the communication situation at that time.

Obaidul Quader also asked the authorities to complete the work of Dhaka-Homna road within a week.

Among others, Rail minister Mazibul Hoque MP, Comilla Police Super Tutul Chakraborty, Roads and Highways Additional Engineer Ibne Alam Masud, Executive Engineer (Comilla Zone) Abdur Rahim, Sub-Divisional Engineer Mazharul Islam, Chandina Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Saleh Ahmed and Daudkandi UNO Sayeedur Rahman accompanied the communications minister.
