DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Bangladesh lost its rights on continental shelf due to failure of the then BNP-led government.
The premier, also ruling Awami League president, came up with the observation, during her visit to the posts, telecommunications and information technology ministry.
She said her government worked from 1996 to 2001 for establishing the country’s rights on maritime boundary. But later, the successive BNP-led government did not take any initiatives in this regard.
Moreover, the PM said she asked the Deputy Commissioners to enlist the homeless people across the country and take initiatives to solve the problem.
Upholding her government’s development planning Sheikh Hasina said IT villages or software technology parks would be established in every district.
She said her government took a program putting importance on outsourcing to increase women employment.
PTIT minister Abdul Latif Siddique and Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique were among others present on the occasion.
