Malaria kills 6 in Bandarban

BANDARBAN: At least six people were killed in last three days and over four thousand people are affected by Malaria disease in Thanchi, Ruma and Ali Kadam upazilas of the district.

The victims are Biren Tripura, 8, Joytimai Tripura, 12, Jagat Joyti Tripura, 12, Croisangpru Marma, 9, and Uthoyangchi, 5.

Bandarban district Civil Surgeon Dr Mongtez confirmed the death to banglanews.

But the locals demanded that at least 11 people were died by the decease from Tuesday to Friday.

Locals said that huge people of the upazilas have been affected by the decease and the upazila health complexes and hospitals are filled up of the patients.

The health department sources said the Malaria decease have been increasing in Zinnahpara, Chingthui headmanpara, Roybahadurpara, Ongsung Kheangpara, Thuisa Kheangpara, Satyamoni Tripurapara of Thanchi upazila and Dalupara of the Sadar upazila.

The sudden attack of the Malaria decease in rainy season made drug shortage in the health complexes. Bandarban hill tracks district Parishad send drug help, said the health department.

Thanchi Upazila Parishad Chairman Kahlaching Marma said to banglanews that the decease spread epidemically for the lack of drugs.
