DHAKA: A plastic factory and at least 12 shops were gutted in a devastating fire in Namapara area of Lalbagh Islampur in city early Sunday.

Fire service and witness sources said that the fire originated in the plastic factory from an electric short circuit around 4:15am and soon spread out to adjacent shops.

On information, eight fire units from Lalbagh and Palashi fire service stations rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 5:00am.

Confirming the matter, Fire Service and Civil Defense Assistant Director Rafiqul Islam told banglanews, “No causalities were reported from the incident.”
