FENI: A district court issued arrest warrant against Mahab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, convener of district Tanti Dal, in Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque murder case.

Feni senior judicial magistrate M Alamgir Farqui Sunday issued the order as Minar Chowdhury did not appear before the court abiding high court order.

Following a petition filed by Mahtab, the HC on July 15 granted him six months’ bail in the case, and he was released from jail on July 17 after 51-day in jail.

Later, the Supreme Court directed Minar, the prime accused in Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul killing case, to surrender before the lower court concerned in Feni within two weeks.

On May 20, Ekramul Haque Ekram, 45, also president of the upazila unit of Awami League, was shot and burnt to death in his car in Feni town.

Rezaul Haque Jasim, brother of Ekram, filed the murder case with Feni Model Police Station the same day, accusing Minar and 30 to 35 unnamed people.

Police have so far arrested 31 people in the case.
