DHAKA: Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense on Thursday decided to allot flats instead of plots for the army personnel.

The decision came from the 12th meeting of the committee with its Chairman M Idris Ali in the chair.

The committee recommended that realistic steps should be taken to ensure proper utilization of lands of Defense Department.

Other members of the committee Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Mujibul Haque, Nurul Majid Mahmood Humaun, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Manjur Kader Quraisi, Naval chief Vice Admiral Jahiruddin Ahmed, Air Force chief Air Vice Marshal Shah Mohammad Ziaur Rahaman, acting Secretary of Defense Ministry Khandaker Asaduzzaman attended the meeting.
