FROM MAWA GHAT: Some 32 bodies have been recovered till Thursday morning so far while sixteen of them were handed over to their relatives on Thursday noon.
Police recovered floating bodies of three people, including two children, from Naria upazila of Shariatpur and Muladi upazila of Barisal on Thursday.
Gosairhat Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan and Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Saifullah Al Mamun confirmed the latest body recovery to banglanews.
Officer-in-Charge Uzzal Kumar Dey of Mehendiganj Thana in Barisal said that after being informed from locals, police recovered a body from Chanpura area. The victim was identified as a Jakir Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Hamid.
Assistant Police Super of Bhola Ramananda Sarkar said that noticing three bodies floating in the Meghna River in the district Sadar, Manpura and Lalmohan upazilas on Thursday morning, locals informed police.
Earlier on Wednesday, six bodies were recovered from Bhola Sadar.
Besides, seven bodies, including two women and a child, were recovered from Shariatpur Sadar and Sureshwar.
On the other hand, Chandpur District Correspondent said that five bodies, including a women and a teenage boy, were recovered from Haimchar Upazila of the district.
However, 132 people still remained missing according to the administration’s list while the rubble of the sunken launch is yet to found.
Besides, fire service recovered a teenage girl, aged at 15 to 16-year, from Kawrakandir char area on Thursday morning.
Earlier on Monday, bodies of two unidentified women were found near the spot after the launch sunken.
The launch, Pinak-6, was carrying more than 200 passengers capsized near Mawa Ghat in Lohajang upazila of Munshiganj district on Monday morning.
BIWTA has charged six people including the owner of the passenger ferry, its pilot and helmsman with causing death by negligence after the vessel sank.
