DHAKA: Former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr Moniruzzaman Mia is mysteriously confined by his relatives at his own residence in the city.

His relatives claimed that the veteran educator is “mentally sick” but he opposed and said he is completely sound.

One of the professors of Faculty of Business Studies said he remained out of contact for last one year. Apart from this, two mobile phones Moniruzzaman Mia are also switched off, he added.

He lives with his nephews at city’s Banani as he is unmarried.

The source also said recently one of the former VC of Dhaka University went to meet him and he found Moniruzzaman Mia mentally fit.

Moniruzzaman Mia claimed that he is not being given proper treatment even he was not been served proper and sufficient food.

Sources said that his relatives are forcing him to hand over his assets to them.

He was Vice Chancellor in Dhaka University from March 24, 1990 to October 31, 1992.
