DHAKA: A Dhaka court fixed September 2 as the date for indictment hearing in blogger and online activist Ahmed Rajib Haider murder case.

 Dhaka-5 Additional Metropolitan Session Judge SM Ziaur Rahman fixed the date on Tuesday. 

On January 28, Detective Police inspector Nibaran Chandra Barman submitted the charge sheet against eight people including that of six students of North South University.

The accused are militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani and six NSU students – Faisal Bin Nayem Dweep, 23, Ehsan Reza Rumman, 23, Maksudul Hasan Anik, 23,  Nayem Irad, 19, Nafis Imtiaz, 20, and Sadman Yasir Mahmud, 20 – and Redwanul Azad Rana, 30.

All accused except Rana are behind the bar now. Rana was mentioned as the mastermind of the killing in the charge sheet.

According the charge sheet, the NSU students were was inspired and provoked to kill the ‘atheist bloggers” by reading Rahmani’s book and listening speeches.

They hacked to death Razib, a key organizer of Ganajagaran Mancha in 2013, in front of his residence in Pallabi area of Mirpur in the city on February 15, 2013 some 10 days after the Mancha began movement demanding capital punishment to the war criminal convicts.

Following the killing, Razib’s father Dr. Nazim Uddin filed a case with Pallabi Thana.
