BD, US working with ILO to revive GSP

NARAYANGANJ: US ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena said both the governments of Bangladesh and USA are jointly working with International Labour Organization (ILO) to restore Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) facilities.

The US ambassador came up with the assertion while talking to journalists after visiting a garment factory at Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Narayanganj on Tuesday noon.

The envoy believes that Bangladesh can develop more by using only jute.

Mozena said he already had visited 61 districts of Bangladesh. It is really a prosperous country but most of the people here don’t know this, he added.

The USA will invest 7.5 million USD in Bangladesh in 2015-16. The country can be an emerging tiger in Asia in future, he further said.

Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) general manager Mehbub Ali, among others, accompanied the US envoy.
