DHAKA: Custom intelligence officials held one person with 1.5-kilogram gold early Wednesday from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in city.

Sources told banglanews that the detainee Ziaur Rahman, 40, came from Kuala Lumpur by a Malaysian Airlines fight.

Custom intelligence Director General Moinul Khan, confirming the matter, said that a team of custom officials recovered that gold around 00:15am after searching the man over suspicion.

“Officials, at that time, found two gold bars of 1,273gm and an ornament of 100gm in his handbag,” Moinul added.

Mentioning the market price of seized gold is worth about Tk 65 lakh, the Director General of custom intelligence said that the detainee has been handed over to police.
