DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday placed M Yusuf on a two-day remand in the Maulana Nurul Islam Faruqi murder case for interrogation.

Metropolitan Magistrate Waaz Kurni Khan passed the remand order after holding a hearing in the noon.

Earlier in the day, Detective Branch Inspector Julhas Uddin Akan produced Yusuf before the court with a 5-day remand plea.

Law enforcers detained Yusuf under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure from Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district on Saturday night.

Miscreants, on Wednesday (August 27), hacked Channel-I Islamic program anchor Maulana Nurul Islam Faruqi, also Presidium Member of Islami Front, to death at his East Razabazar residence in city.

Victim’s son Faisal Faruqi filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Thana against unnamed eight-nine persons.

On August 31, CMM Court Magistrate Waaz Kurni Khan placed Mahmuda Khatun and Shariful Islam, who were held from Murapara area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district, on 5-day remand for their alleged involvement with the murder.
