DHAKA: As a symbol of friendship, Bangladesh is going to send two Royal Bengal Tigers-- named Ranbir and Jyoti-- to Japan within a month.
The four and half years old Ranbir met his families at National Zoo in the case No- C-3/A on Wednesday.
On May 2010, two calves of tigers were born in city zoo and Ranbir was one of those and Jyoti was one of those two which were recovered by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on May 2012.
Later, Jyoti was released at Dulahazra Park in Cox’s Bazar for four months where visitors were attracted by the tigress.
Earlier on May, Prime Minister promised Japan to give two Royal Bengal Tigers as a sign of friendship. The Royal Bengal Tigers will be sent to Japan to spend their rest of life.
On the other hand, Japan Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on September 6 after 14 years.
Officer of Dhaka Zoo Golam Azam told banglanews that Ranbir’s weight now 130-135 kilograms who needed eight kilogram meat each day. He was given special care.
Dhaka Zoo Curator Dr Enayet Hossain told banglanews the two tigers will be kept in Quarantine Center for 21 days to make them as couple. Later, giving health certificate, the tigers will be sent to Japan. Two cases were made spending Tk1.5 lakh for the safe journey of the tigers.
Besides, two veterinarians will be sent to Japan for 15-days with the tigers to take care of them.
