Int’l Mother Language Institute to Be Upgraded

DHAKA: Sri Lanka will support Bangladesh’s International Mother Language Institute to be lifted in UNESCO category-2, said Lankan education minister Bandula Gunawardhana on Sunday.

He made the assertion while the visiting delegation met Bangladesh education minister Narul Islam Nahid at his office in city.

However, education ministers of the two South Asian countries discussed on several bilateral issues, an official source told banglanews.

Highlighting the progress in Bangladesh’s education sector in the past six years, Nahid said that improving the quality of education is a challenge for the country.

His government has been working on the issue, he added.

Moreover, the Sri Lankan education minister ensured him that his country will support Bangladesh in international forum.

Bangladesh education secretary Dr Mohammdad Sadiq, among others, was present at the meeting.
