PM explains objective of Broadcast policy Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina

DHAKA: Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina said that the broadcast policy has been formulated with the aim of the improving the sector.

A commission will be formed soon following the policy, she added.

The PM said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the first course of Bangladesh Film and Television Institute on Wednesday morning.

She further said that some people in the country are opposing the policy but we know that in every country the broadcast system has been running under a broadcast policy.

Bangladesh is not an exception, she added.

According to her, the broadcast policy was a demand from the journalists.

The PM said that people, who oppose the broadcast policy, should know that if they want to enjoy their rights they should preserve the rights of others first.

The premier opined that a chapter of new history of films and television in the country will be open through this course.

Mentioning her government’s initiatives in bringing back the healthy environment in film industry, the PM said, her government is iron handed in preventing obscenity in movies as well as stopping piracy of video CDs.

Modren technology will be provided by December to the cinemas in the country so that they can project films of digital format, she added.

Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as special gust at the event with Film and Television Institute chairman Mortuja Ahmed in the chair.
