DHAKA: People from all walks of life are paying their tribute to the Nazrul Sangeet legend Firoza Begum at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Wednesday afternnon.

The body of the Firoza Begum, who died at a city hospital on Tuesday, has been brought here at 1:30pm.

However, her body has been kept here till 4:00pm to pay tribute to her by the people.

Sources told banglanews that Firoza Begum’s sons Hamin Ahmed and Shafin Ahmed are also with the body.

Hamin said that none but his mother sacrifices her life for the sake of Nazrul Sangeet. “She did a lot for the welfare of Nazrul Sangeet,” he added.

Hamin, however, requested all to pray for his mother’s departed soul.

Earlier in the morning, Firoza Begum’s body was taken to her city’s Indira Road apartment from the Apollo Hospitals where she breathed her last.

She will be laid to rest at the city’s Banani graveyard after Asr prayers on the day.

Legendary singer Firoza Begum passed away at the age of 82.
