DHAKA: The Government decided to appoint Md Abu Zafar, currently serving as Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the new Ambassador to Austria.
As career diplomat, Abu Zafar belongs to the 10th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
In his distinguished diplomatic career he served in Bangladesh Embassy in The Hague and Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi.
He also served as Consul General in Bangladesh Consulate General in Los Angeles and Bangladesh Consulate General in Dubai. Prior to his joining the diplomatic service Zafar served for three years as Scientific Officer in Bangladesh Jute Research Institute, Dhaka.
Abu Zafar graduated from the Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University, Dhaka. He also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations from International Institute of Public Administration (IIAP), France and his MBA from Preston University, USA.
He also received a number of overseas trainings including UN Peace Keeping Laws at Defense Institute of International Legal Studies, Rhode Island, USA; International Trade Promotion Laws at IDLO, Sydney, Australia; Promotion of Foreign Trade in Singapore and International Public Law at the Hague Academy, the Netherlands.
