LAXMIPUR: Five policemen were hurt and a terrorist sustained bullet injury in a gunfight in Motobi area of Mandari union under Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Of the injured policemen Detective Branch of Police (DB) Sub-Inspector Mahe Alam and others identity could not be known immediately. 

The bullet-hit yaba dealer is identified as Yunus, 30, son of Mafiz Ullah, hailed from Gafiyarkhil area of Dighuli union. 

Sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area around 3:30am on the day.

Then sensing the presence of police yaba dealers opened fire aiming police.

Police also opened fire in reply, leaving the police men injured and Yunus bullet injured.

Meanwhile, police held two cohorts of recovered two-light Gun (LG) from the spot.

Confirming the matter Laxmipur Police Super Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman told banglanews that the injure police men were given first aid treatment and Yunus was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
