DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.
Bangladesh meteorological Department, in a special bulletin, said the low over west-central bay and adjoining Andhara-Orissa coast moved north-northeastwards and has become a well-marked low and now lies over northwest bay and adjoining orissa coast.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay. Squally weather may affect over North Bay adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, the met office added.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
On the other hand, in association with rain or thunder showers tempo south or south-easterly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Jessore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by tempo south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
