DHAKA: With the aim of providing all government information in a single place, a service portal (services.portal.gov.bd) called ‘Sebakunja’ has been launched on Sunday.
Besides, another portal providing government forms called ‘form portal’ (forms.gov.bd) has also been launched on the day.
Jatiya Sangsad speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the portals on the occasion of ‘Social Good Summit’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in city.
Information and Communication state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and UNDP country director Pauline Tamesis were present as special guests at the event, jointly organized by UNDP Bangladesh and Prime Minister Office (PMO) ‘Access to Information (a2i)’ program.
The authorities concerned said currently, the form portal contains 1010 widely used government forms. It will gradually be increased.
They further said that the form fill-up and appeal options will be included soon in the portal so that people in remote areas can get hassle-free services in a short time.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin said that ‘Sebakunja’ has been appeared with unique features. Its objectives will be fulfilled if we can ensure the service.
She further said that the Members of Parliament can play an important role in monitoring the service.
A campaign is also needed regarding the portals so that people can get benefit from the portals, she added.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak in his speech said that they are working to make all necessary government information available in mobile applications.
According to the organizers, service portal ‘Sebakunja’ will categorically show 400 services provided by the ministries, directorates, government organizations and administrations in district and upazila levels.
The portal includes several legal processes, its cost, duration, the persons to provide the service and other related information so that citizens can prepare themselves prior to going to the respective offices.
People will also easily get information regarding their necessary steps by seeing the maps included in the portal.
A service profile has also been made under the Access to Information (a2i) program so that people can easily get information in their hands by using ICT, the organizers added.
