DHAKA: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized 50,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Teknaf border area of Cox’s Bazar Tuesday midnight.
BGB headquarters’ public relations officer (PRO) Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday morning.
He said acting on tip off, BGB personnel conducted a drive in sluice gate number-5 of Naf River adjacent to Myanmar border on Tuesday midnight and recovered 50,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in an abandoned condition.
Sensing the law enforcers’ presence, drag peddlers left the scene abandoning the consignment of Yaba tablets.
The market price of the seized Yaba tablets is about TK1.50 crore, he added.
Necessary legal measures will be taken in this connection, he also said.
