TANGAIL: Three persons drowned in the river Bangshai in Gabindapur area under Mirzapur upazila of the district Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain, 48, son of Azhar Mian, Sanowar Hossain, 42, son of Hafez Ali and Robin Mian, 22, son of Anwar Hossin. They hailed from Pardighi village of the upazila.

Mirzapur Thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Mostafa told banglanews the three people were crossing the river by a boat. At on stage, they came to contact with an electric wire – which crossed over the river – and fell into the water and died.

Later Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel recovered the bodies.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Masum Ahammed said the bodies were handed over to the families.
